Yay for Christmas!

Ok, so this is the longest I've been without posts. Admittedly, I've been very slack lately. My apologies. Everything has been really busy - work and home.

Christmas is less than 2 days away! wow! I am so excited! The Christmas spirit has overtaken me! This year has really flown by. I can't believe how fast it has home by. Crazy. It feels like just yesterday I graduated from college, but I've already been at work for more than 6 months and we've been in the house since July!

Friday Christi's parents hosted their Sunday school class party. Christi helped her mom setup everything for the party and I went their after I finished painting the bonus room (yes, it's finally done with paint! worked on it all last week!) We had a good time talking and joking around with the people in their Sunday school class. They are some real characters and always keep things entertaining.

Saturday evening we went to my cousin's house for my big family Christmas. Cousins from all over came and we celebrated Christmas. We did something different this year and had an Italian themed food and it was delicious, but still not quite the same. Christi and I had a good time talking with family that we don't get to see very often. A lot of my family are Georgia Southern fans and they love Paul Johnson, so they have basically converted to GT fans. Of course, the majority of my family is UGA fans, so I had a good time reminding them of that game at the end of the year. 7 years is a long time to go without wins - I'm enjoying this one!

Sunday Christi and I finished Christmas shopping. After we shopped, we began to wrap presents. Thankfully, Christi's mom and Jason came over to help since we have so many. Of course, we couldn't wrap any of theirs or our own while they were there, but it was a big help. Our tree looks like it is floating is a sea of Christmas presents. I'll post a picture soon! Hopefully tomorrow.

Jessica and Jody came over last night. We exchanged gifts and went out to eat with them. It was a lot of fun. We also got their daughter and soon to be born baby presents as well. We are happy we have met a couple that we really get along with and have a lot in common with and have a lot of fun with.

Yesterday we spent most of the day cleaning the house. Scratch that - Christi spent most of the day cleaning! I was at work and Christi cleaned the house. She did a great job. It looks better than the day we moved in! The reason we were getting the house in great shape was that we had my dad's side of the family Christmas tonight. Today Christi had to get up early and go to a dentist appointment and then come back home and cooked all the food. She has been a all-star the past 2 days. I've tried to help out where I can but she basically did everything that needed to be done. I'm very fortunate to have such an awesome wife!

Tonight my grandparents, my uncle and aunt and their 3 kids came over, as well as my brother and sister. You might notice someone absent from that group. My dad and stepmom. They decided to go to Washington DC for Christmas, so they missed our 1st Christmas in our new home. It's a little frustrating to say the least. I can't blame them for going to DC. They are staying in someone they know house for free for a week. But to miss Christmas? That bothers me. And the worst part was the week before, after we had already made plans to have Christmas at our house, I talked to them and he mentioned they might be going to DC. On Saturday, he called me to tell me they decided to go to DC and they were leaving - that day. So whatever. I'm happy they got to go and I know they are having fun, but it bothers me that they decided to wait until they day there were leaving and 4 days before our Christmas get together to tell us they were leaving. Things like this are why my parents and I have strained relationships. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Anyway, enough of that. We had a great time tonight and I think the party was a huge success. Everyone seemed to love our house and it was the most talkative our cousins had been in a long time. I just got finished wrapping the rest of Christi's presents. Right now she is snoozing on the couch. She definitely needs some rest after 2 stressful days. I have to get to bed. I have to go to work in the morning. I know, working on Christmas Eve stinks. I could have taken the day off but I decided to keep my annual leave since I can carry it all over to next year. Besides, I don't have that many hours yet and I'm trying to get it built up.

Have a good evening everyone. Merry Christmas! God Bless!

Don't you love the real world where you only get one day of vacation for Christmas. Or two when the president is being nice :)

Yea, I agree! Thankfully he gave us Friday off! I miss being getting weeks off like we did in high school and college. Christi still gets them, though.
