Terry Pendleton

Should the Braves get a new hitting coach? With the exception of Prado and Heyward, the Braves are really terrible at the plate. I was a huge fan of Terry Pendleton as a player, but as a coach I think he needs to move onto something else that doesn't involve hitting or managing. I really hope he doesn't replace Bobby on the bench. Is it all his fault? No, but as the hitting coach he has to turn it around. The last 2 years and the beginning of this season the Braves offense has been pretty pathetic. McCann does well because he uses his dad as a hitting coach.

Take a look at this article in the AJC and just look at how BAD the current Braves are and how good some recent ex-Braves are doing in new locations. Braves players we had written off as finished, except they are now doing better than many current Braves. I realize it's only the 1st month of the season, but with the Braves in a losing streak and looking like A-ball hitters, we need to do something or else we are going to be out of the race before summer. Yea we scored 3 runs tonight, but you won't win many games scoring 3.

Any thoughts?

Landon Rolled Over

Landon rolled over last night several times! He has been sooo close many time, but he finally decided he wanted to roll all the way over last night. Great stuff. More to come later.

Lots of stuff

We have been above-normal busy the past few weeks, which is saying a lot. My work activity has picked up a lot more lately, so I've been working a little later than normal. It looks like I will be going to Missouri next week for a few days, so I'm getting prepared for that. I also have a test Tuesday that I've been trying to study for, but not having much success due to other things coming up. I hurt my back (AGAIN!) playing soccer on Monday. I'm not 100% certain what happened because I've played several times since injuring my back a few months ago. I apparently made a wrong move and something caught. So, I'm back again trying to rehab it back to shape. I thought I was close to being there. Apparently not.

Christi is always busy with school, but CRCT is this week so that adds to the business. There are so many crazy things she has to do to get ready for the test. I won't even go into it because I'll get in trouble speaking my mind about how stupid a lot of this stuff is. After all the pollen last week, we were hoping for some rain and finally got some Thursday. Then we realized we had another roof leak. Awesome. This one appears minor, but I'm crossing my fingers that it won't be too big of a job. The earliest we can get a roofer out is tomorrow. I'm praying it's quick and easy. We are sleeping in the guest room because the leak was in our bedroom. There is a small water spot on the ceiling and a small crack formed allowing some water through. We didn't notice that because we have a high double-tray ceiling in there. Christi noticed that a shirt laying on the bed was wet. She picked that up to discover a big water spot on our bed-spread, which soaked through the sheets onto the feather bed sheet. Thankfully it did not soak through to the mattress. We now have to take those to the cleaners to get the stain out. It could be worse, though. Our furniture and everything else in the room was dry. We consider ourselves fortunate and now our bed is covered with a plastic tarp just in case it rains again.

Landon had his 4 month visit on Tuesday. Everything checked out well. He completely destroyed the paper on the table, though. I have a picture on my phone of the carnage. He likes to play with paper and basically anything else like that he can get his hands on (blanket, bib, clothes, towel, etc.) He was 25" long and weighed 14 lbs 8.25 oz. Just for the record, Christi guessed 17 lbs and I guessed 14 lbs 8 oz. Yes, I'm not letting her forget I was that close. We did have to switch him to a different formula since he was getting too fussy on his current formula (Similac Advance). He is now taking Enfamil Gentlease, but it looks like we are going to make a switch again (per the doctor's orders). He is better on the Enfamil, but it isn't the huge difference Dr. Vernon said he should have. So, he said if that doesn't happen within a few days, then switch to Similac Isomil. Hopefully this one will work, because if not, the next one we try it double the price of the other formula. That will hurt the budget for sure.

Another big change for Landon is food. Yes, I just talked about his formula change, but he also started on solid foods this week. That has been an adventure, to say the least. They tell you to start him off on rice cereal since it still has a pretty liquid consistency. They don't tell you he will have no idea what this thing called a "spoon" is or how to deal with it. We blindly marched into the solid foods (at least I did) thinking it would be easy. I couldn't have been more wrong. That first time he would let the spoon in his mouth, but try to tongue it. Then he would push all the food out with his tongue because that is all he knew how to do. The food would get on his bib despite our best efforts to keep it off of him. Landon tries to eat his bibs, so that got all over his face and hands, which then got it all over his clothes and hair. Oh yea, and we had just given him a bath, too. He's at the stage where is trying to grab at everything and he is very, very good with his hands at taking things when you put them in front of him. You might can see where this is going. When the spoon would come towards his face, he would try to grab it or knock it away, depending on if he was hungry or tired of eating. A couple of times he successfully grabbed the spoon and we couldn't get it out of his hands. Food went all over the place. Needless to say, lesson learned.

After the first few times he started to learn how to eat the solid foods. We have since added bananas to his repertoire and he loves them. We started off mixing them with rice cereal because that stuff is just nasty and he showed an immediate increase in food staying in his mouth. Now he's on just bananas and we're looking at introducing another food this week. The other day I was holding his hands while he was eating because of the aforementioned spoon grabbing skills. If you let him grab your finger or a toy, he won't grab at the spoon. Well, he had been eating so he had bananas on his face. No big deal though because he was holding my hand. Apparently Christi didn't get another spoonful ready fast enough, so he proceeded to pull my hand to his face and also bring his face towards my hand so he could eat it. I'm not making this up. He banana-ized my whole hand with banana food and slobber mixed. He was gumming my hand trying to find some more food. Christi thought it was pretty funny, and it kind of was, but at the same time I had stuff all over me. I guess that's what water is for.

We had a great Easter and like every holiday, traveled all over to make sure we saw all the family. I won't go into a lot of detail because I have several pictures to post and will do it there. It is getting late and this post was originally intended to be a 1 paragraph 5 minute post, but that turned into another huge post by me. Bedtime for us. Going to be a long day tomorrow. Have a great week.

p.s. I have a friend going through a very difficult situation. Without going into detail, please pray for him or at least keep him in your thoughts. Thank you.
