Weekend Happenings

We had a busy weekend this weekend. Saturday I was lucky enough to get a ticket and go to the GT-UNC game with my friend Jason. It was really strange to be back on campus. They've already begun construction on the Clough Student Center (or whatever it is) and Yellow Jacket Park, which they were so anal about keeping in pristine condition, is completely destroyed. Same goes for the library parking lot and apparently the library fountain is also going to have to be removed as part of the project. I guess the band is going to have to find a new place to play 'Budweiser' before the games now.

Jason and I walked around campus for a little while before going to the game. I was impressed with the large amount of tailgaters since the kickoff was at 12. The crowd was pretty good and the weather was great for most of the game (more on that later.) I'd say we had about 50,000 on hand for the game, so it wasn't full but I wasn't expecting that either. We played a great game and should have scored more points that we did, but overall it was a good win (minus the kicking game.)

There was a fight in my section between GT fans, which was pretty sad to see, honestly. It appeared to be a case of people wanting to stand up and watch the game while the people behind them wanted them to sit down. I like standing up, but I can see why you should also respect the people sitting behind you. Jaybo Shaw's dad pulled a guy down from behind (person was standing) and they got into an argument. One of the other guy's friends when and got police. While that was going on there was a bunch of yelling and some pushing. The cops came and removed the guy who was pulled down and about 4 of his group. One guy was fighting really hard not to be removed, but the cops pulled out the mace and he stopped fighting (they didn't discharge it, thankfully, since there was several hundred people right around who would have been affected.) Noone around me knew what started the fight, but we speculated it was a sit vs stand dispute. We heard that the group who was kicked out was warned earlier in the game for behavior (unsure what for), but I am don't know if that is true or not. As we were debating this, one of the group's wives (maybe girlfriend) was yelling at Jaybo's dad and his group that they were all GT fans and they shouldn't be fighting. After they were removed, she stood up, flicked them off, and then started to dance around like a crazy person. Naturally, the police came right back and removed her too. She fought the hardest our of everyone but the cop just carried her up the steps. Crazy

Right after all of that the rain hit and it came hard. I had a rain jacket but it didn't have a hood, so I was soaked. It was worth it though since we played really well and I sing the Ramblin Wreck with the team at the end of the game. Lots of fun.

While I was at the game, Christi went to a consignment store with her mom and bought a few maternity clothes and things for Landon as well. She found him some great Christmas clothes and other outfits and of course, another pair of shoes. We have an addiction. She wasn't the only person to buy Landon something, either. I found a really awesome GT jersey at Tailgater's Alley and had to get it for him. It's a #21 jersey, of course.

Later Saturday afternoon we stayed at Christi's parents house and ate dinner as well as watched some more football games on TV. Her brother Jason (not the same Jason I went to the game with - always confusing!) weren't craving what they cooked for dinner, so we decided to go to Caliente's and get some Cal-Mex burritos. They were very good, as usual. When we got back home we played a few games of Scrabble. It was fun, but I need some work on my vocabulary. It's hard to think of words when you only have a few letter options and limited space to play them in, especially if 5 of your 7 tiles are vowels.

Sunday I watched the 1st half of the Falcons game while Christi worked on a painting for Landon's room. I'll post pictures of it when she finishes; it's going to look really awesome. Around half-time, my mom and her boyfriend came over to our house to look at Landon's room. It was their first time seeing what we had done to the room. They stayed for a little while and we later showed them pictures from our 4D sonogram (yet to be posted) and the DVD of the entire sonogram (unsure if I can / should post since you probably won't know what's going on). After they left we went back to Christi's parent's house.

As we were pulling out of the driveway, I remembered that a friend of mine had invited me to play in a pick-up scrimmage between 2 of the local adult league teams. I ran back inside to get my things and played soccer for a few hours after I dropped Christi off back at her parents house. I played OK, still have some rust on my shots on goal but overall it was fun. They're supposed to play every week at the same time, so maybe I will start playing with them. We'll see; I don't want to commit to anything because Landon will be here soon and who knows what our schedules will be like then. I still play pick-up on Wednesday every now and then, but I haven't gone every week.

Besides watching the premier of a few TV shows (we're Amazing Race fans), we ended up relaxing around the house when we had time. I have some work to do around the house, but it didn't get done this weekend. The grass needs cutting again because it poured all week, but I think it will be ok until next weekend.

That's about it for this weekend. I've been slammed at work this week and ended up working some overtime both yesterday and today. I don't mind though because it means I'm having to do some real work that warrants staying overtime. Christi has been busy at school (as always) and is trying to get things worked out for maternity leave and how much time off she will have.

Time to get going. Stay tuned for more updates

Landon's Room Updates

Here are a few more pictures from Landon's room. Enjoy

Changing table with cover on the mattress

Gilder rocker installed and looking great! A present from Mike and Debra. Thanks!

The mobile that took forever to figure out how to fit onto the crib

Vacation Pictures

Here are some pictures from our vacation to Orange Beach and Gulf Shores.

This was our hotel - the Island House Hotel. Very nice.

These are our room doors. Apparently we were high rollers because we got the room on the end with the doubler doors. Heck yea!

The glorious bed that made us realize how crappy out mattress is.

The very spacious room

View from the our room. The hotel you see on the far right was our hotel.

Pool area

Beach front view

View from one of the restaurants where we ate. Very nice.

My future boat! That's a gold stripe along the side :)

Christi and Landon posing in front of the boats

Hard to see, but that's the Oyster Bar. Love it.

Outside of the hotel

Morning at the beach

Our place again

Storms moving in. See that older couple next to us? That guy could talk and talk and talk....

Look in the middle above the wave and you can see about 12 pelicans flying low looking for food

See, told you they were there

A little rain at the beach. Didn't last long, thankfully!

Early morning on the beach

Cool looking clouds and sky

Very cool looking condos that were just finished being built.

Our place again. Small but very nice and relaxing. Private beach with excellent rooms and an incredibly comfortable bed!

Return of the sun

Our beach chair

Shoreline and people fishing. There were these weird mystery fish that would come out of nowhere! Just ask Christi, it's true! :)

Even the church has a beach front view

What we'll be doing next time for sure! Not a good idea for a pregnant woman to be riding one...

Little fish

The bird wanted to play some ball too

We went to the Island Pancake House (don't go!) and ordered some pancakes. This is the syrup. Overall wasn't good food and horrible service

Random picture from Target parking lot.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. We had a great time and hope to go back next year!

Cooking Dinner

Not much going on right now. We're at home and I'm assisting Christi in cooking dinner. Obviously I'm a lot of help since I'm upstairs blogging right now. I actually just came to check my email and realized I haven't posted in a while. We have some more pictures of updates to Landon's room and some vacations pictures that are long over due as well.

If you're lucky I'll remember to post them tonight! Time to go back to cooking.

Landon's Room

Here are some pictures of Landon's room. It's not completely finished, but it's 95% there so I decided it was time to post some pictures. We're going to put his name above his crib with block letter as well as hang some pictures and shelves on the wall. Hope you enjoy, it's been a lot of work.

Walls getting painted. You can really tell the difference between the new blue and the old blue.

Bead board getting put up around the room

Furniture is here!

Chair rail we put up over the bead board.

More chair rail. Cutting the bead board around the window was not fun but we got it done

The crib is huge. It was the only piece that didn't come full assembled, but it was very easy to put together

I took a picture of the brand for some reason. I'm not sure why now.

Crib assembled! Christi polishing the furniture in the background

Me putting the crib bedding into the crib. You can get an idea how big this crib is.

Look at that concentration!

Christi putting some finishing touches on the bedding

Crib 100% finished

The massive 5 drawer dresser. Jason and I could barely carry this thing into the house. It's solid.

3 drawer dresser and changing table on top

Stroller and car seat

Diaper bag

Tiny shoes on the dresser!

Another shot of the changing table and dresser

Vegas Baby pacifier. We found out we were pregnant the 1st day we were in Vegas, and then we saw this while we were there. Had to get it!

A certain grandmother has been doing some shopping...

We have a tiny shoe addiction

Tiny socks that look like shoes!

That's all for now. More pictures to come when we put the wall decorations up. Hope you like all of our hard work!
