This weekend was very busy for us. Christi, her mom, dad, and I started the weekend off on Saturday by going to a local furniture store to look for things for our house. Since most of our stuff is a hodge-podge, we were looking at a lot of stuff. Mainly, we were looking for a new bedroom suite, living room furniture, an entertainment center, and a dining room set. We had been to the store a few months back with Christi's grandmother when she was shopping for new furniture and found some things we like. Unfortunately after searching for a long time, we were saddened to find out that those items were no longer in and had actually been discontinued. Although we were disappointed, we continued to look and did find a few things we liked, but nothing that really jumped out as something we had to have except maybe a dining room table.
After shopping, we all went over to Jason's house to help him paint his bedroom. This took much longer than expected. We probably spent at least 5 hours painting since the closets needed several coats as well as all the trim and baseboards. We actually didn't finish up until Sunday afternoon. Christi and her mom helped paint the closets but opted out of painting the trim. Instead, they went to a fabric store to get materials to recover the headboard that we made for our guest bedroom. When they got back, they got to work on the headboard. They got most of it done but a few of the pieces they were going to reuse were messed up, so we have to find some new pieces. Once it gets done we will post pictures of it.
Today we went over by the house to meet the termite guy so he could do a check and give us our termite letter. After we moved a few things from the crawlspace that they left, he gave us the ok. That is essentially the last hurdle in getting the house, besides all the craziness that is closing. Next, we headed to another furniture store where we saw several things we liked. Ultimately, we fell in love with a living room set and we decided to get it. We are very excited about it but we have to wait 10-14 days for delivery since they cannot give you what is actually in the showroom floor. Again, pictures will be coming soon once they get delivered. Also, pictures of the house should be up soon - whenever I get unlazy and upload them from the camera and our phone.
This week will be hectic since we are making arrangements to get us moved and trying to get everything setup so that when we close on Thursday everything will be ready to go. Well, that's all for today. Keep checking back for updates.
