Enjoying Life

I'm writing this post with Landon sleeping on my chest. It is such a good feeling. He's like a little furnace since he is so warm. He gets that from him mom because she too always has really warm hands and feet. Mine are always cold, so it feels good to hold both of them!

We have been pretty busy this past week. Christi started a new women's Bible study group on Monday and she seems to like it a lot. They are covering the book of Ester and Beth Moore's material is being used for the class. I took a peek at her book and it looks pretty interesting. I also started a class - my Masters class. I had my first class on Tuesday and it was pretty good. It's an Engineering Management class so it fits both the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Technical Management
(here on out referred to as ETM) course requirements. So far it's good, but we haven't really done anything except have 1 homework that was pretty easy. The room we are in doesn't have a digital projector, so our professor is rocking the lamp projector and transparencies for slides. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

We have been busy cleaning the house since we are behind on that. We were also lucky to find some time to go over to Christi's parents' house and spend time with them. We all enjoyed that. Landon is growing very quickly now - too fast, actually! We weighed him by holding him and steeping on our scale and he's right at 9.5lbs! It seems huge to us, but a girl we know had her baby and she was 9lbs 9oz. Landon is same size as her but 6 weeks old! He is much more active during the day and has started to smile at us. That is an awesome feeling. We play with him all the time and he loves to lay there and try to talk back with us when we are talking to him. He is also enjoying his bouncy seat and will lay in that during the day while Christi is doing something. She has found that Landon is a big fan of The Price is Right, so they watch that together in the mornings. I'm jealous.

I'm about to go lay Landon down so I'll end this post here. More updates coming soon. Have a good holiday!

A few Landon Pictures

Here a few un-Facebooked pictures of Landon for my loyal readers to enjoy. I'll post them to Facebook in a few days, but wanted to show them off here first.

The bib says 'Handsome like my Daddy'. I don't know about all that, but he's a good-looking guy that's for sure! Also note the double arm pose. Finally caught that on camera.

Landon getting ready for the Orange Bowl

What's up guys? (This is probably my favorite pic of him so far)

Bath time!

Get in line girls!

Christi and Landon looking great

Me and Landon. I know, he's much cuter than I am

Landon's church outfit. He wasn't in a picture taking mood because he was hungry

Here's his pouty lip. He said enough pictures and give me some food. He does the lip whenever he really wants to eat. It's hard to resist but it's so cute.

I forgot what I was writing

As I sat down to write this post, I had an idea of what I was going to write. It was going to be a really good blog. Somewhere between signing into my account and opening a new post I forgot what I was going to write. I hate my memory sometimes. I usually have a pretty good memory, but my short term memory can be really bad sometimes. Example: Sometimes when leaving my house I forget where I was supposed to be going momentarily. Thankfully Christi catches me and directs me to the right place. This usually happens when we are on the way out to eat. I have no idea why. Hopefully it won't get worse.

Wow, it sure is cold outside! I don't know about you all, but I do not function well in cold weather. I am definitely a warm weather person. This cold weather needs to hurry up and leave, but it appears that it is going to stick around for a while. Historically, it is coldest in February and March (at least to me) so I'm dreading how cold it is going to get. The one plus side to cold weather is snow. I like snow if I can stay home and play in it, but only for a few days. After that it gets a little annoying. Of course, this is Georgia snow I am talking about. If I was off in Colorado skiing I would be in the snow all day every day. However, I think that too would get a little old.

This cold weather reminds me of global warming, or lack thereof. I recall recently that some people hacked into one of the leading climate research center's computer system. This research center was campaigning for global warming and getting a lot of funding from countries to come up with solutions to the global warming problem. Turns out, it's basically a hoax. There were tons of emails from scientists complaining the temperature has actually dropped instead of risen like they had hoped. I know, crazy. Google "global warming center hacked" or something similar and look at all the articles about it. Here, I did it for you It reminds me of my earth and atmospheric science elective I took at GT (much better than Physics 3!) Climate change was a hot topic in the class (sorry for the bad pun) and our professor showed us some interesting things. For many, many years they have been taking core samples from the earth that has layers and layers of the earth's surface in them comprising of many, many years. I don't remember the exact temperatures, but basically as far back as they can date, the earth's temperature has fluxuated up and down. If you graph the data is presents to be a nice sine wave. As of 2006, we were on the downward slope that showed the earth was cooling down, not warming up, if you believed the thousands of years of earth core data, that is. There was some worry that the earth should have cooled down a decade ago and that man-made global warming was causing this re-heating, but as shown in those article and emails, it's basically been a lie. We're going to be cooling back down more than likely and a few decades later it's going to get warmer again. The key will be how cold (or hot) it gets, because at one point all of the northern states were glaciers (ice age), but I doubt it will get that cold anytime soon.

The point I'm trying to make is that don't accept everything at face value, even if a large group of "smart" people are telling it to you. I think with the way the media is today, it's hard to find news that doesn't have any spin put on it. I guess that's the skeptic in me, but it seems like these days people don't do something unless they get something in return for it. I know, it's sad that my mind works like that now, but that's how I feel about the media. They can completely control how you think and feel about a situation based on how much they cover it, what information they report (and don't report), what words they use to describe people, and whether it relates to their parent company's interests or not, etc. After all, the media outlets are owned by about 4 or 5 huge parent companies, possibly less now. They all have other business interests they are trying to protect and I wouldn't put it past them to slant a story to their benefit. I mean, how many people actually heard about the climate center hacking? I never saw it on any of the 'big' outlets. That doesn't mean it wasn't reported, but to me this is a pretty big issue that challenges what a former vice president has been hawking for many years now (and raking in tons of dough for). Ok, enough of that. I'm not trying to get political, but I am saying just take the time to think for yourself and maybe do some research something if you have questions.

Climate change reminds me of something else I always think about. I find it hilarious when I see a Prius get pulled over for speeding. Driving that fast kind of defeats the purpose of owning a hybrid I think, even though I'm sure that person is still getting better gas mileage than me. I think that's why I enjoy seeing it happen.

Well, this has been enough of a random rant post. I'll have some Landon news and pictures coming this week and possibly some more things if I have time. Unfortunately I'm still taking down Christmas decorations so I'll likely do that before I post anything else. I know, we're a little behind, but at least we're actually taking them down now. Stay warm everyone.

We are here and doing pretty good

Just a quick post to let you all know that I am still going to be posting. I had hoped to post more often, but honestly I think about posting and then remember I have about 100 other things that I should be doing instead. I know, I have been on facebook more than normal and I could have been using that time to post here. The reason is that everyone who wants to see pictures of Landon doesn't read my blog so I post them there and it's much easier to upload a large quantity of pictures. Also, there are a lot of pictures that get posted by other people that I look at and can't do that here. Ok, enough of the excuses.

What have we been doing? Well, besides taking millions of pictures of Landon, taking care of him, and having an awesome time watching him grow up, we've been doing a few things but not too much. We're behind on a lot of our normal chores and things are about to get busier. Next week I will be starting master's classes and in 3 weeks Christi will be going back to work, unfortunately. I say that because I would love for her to stay at home, but we cannot afford it at the time. Hopefully we will eventually be able to do that. I know she is having a great time being with Landon, even though it is tough some times, and having to go back to work is going to be very hard on her.

It's almost time for Landon to eat, so I need to get going so I can change his diaper and get everything ready. Hope everyone is doing well. Oh yea, check out the new poll on the right to let me know what you are interested in reading about. Multiple options are selectable. Vote please!
