Terry Pendleton

Should the Braves get a new hitting coach? With the exception of Prado and Heyward, the Braves are really terrible at the plate. I was a huge fan of Terry Pendleton as a player, but as a coach I think he needs to move onto something else that doesn't involve hitting or managing. I really hope he doesn't replace Bobby on the bench. Is it all his fault? No, but as the hitting coach he has to turn it around. The last 2 years and the beginning of this season the Braves offense has been pretty pathetic. McCann does well because he uses his dad as a hitting coach.

Take a look at this article in the AJC and just look at how BAD the current Braves are and how good some recent ex-Braves are doing in new locations. Braves players we had written off as finished, except they are now doing better than many current Braves. I realize it's only the 1st month of the season, but with the Braves in a losing streak and looking like A-ball hitters, we need to do something or else we are going to be out of the race before summer. Yea we scored 3 runs tonight, but you won't win many games scoring 3.

Any thoughts?

You know I'm a sucker for a Braves post. Terry Pendleton may be the problem, but I doubt it. I mean, Frenchy is hitting .286. Better than last year, respectable, but nothing spectacular.

I don't know. I think there is a mentality problem with the Braves moreso than a hitting coach problem.

Just my humble opinion.

He may not be the problem, but I can't say I've seen him actually help a hitter get better. I realize they are professional players, but his job is to turn us around. Instead everyone seems to get worse.

If Francoeur was hitting .286 in ATL he would still be there in my opinion. Will he drop back down to the .230-.250ish range where he was with the Braves? Probably. He's a free swinger so he's going to strikeout a lot, but the Braves tried to make him a more patient hitter and it made him a worse hitter because he couldn't do it. Maybe the change of scenery was worth it for him. At least we got someone good in return... oh wait we let him go. And we still need a live body in left field...

Kelly Johnson leading in NL home runs. Crazy. I thought if he got a fair chance to play everyday he would be alright, but he's exploded.
